June 2007...or so:
Nathan and I lived in Holladay; I worked at University of Phoenix full time/GOGO part time and Nate worked at Verizon. One of us was really excited to quit their job and go to law school...the other, not so much. One Saturday after I worked my part time shift (at GOGO), I made the trek to West Valley to visit Nate at work during a lunch break. After my visit, I made a somewhat whimsical* decision to stop at the nearby Gold's Gym location for a workout. After said workout, I went into the locker room, only to realize that I hadn't locked up my stuff (dumb but I never did in Sandy or Holladay) and some rat had rooted through everything and took: my set of keys, my phone, my wallet, my lip gloss, and my face powder. To this day, I think this girl is disgusting based on the fact that she took my lip gloss. Anyway - after I quietly swore and freaked out in the bathroom, I went to the front desk and started the process of getting things straightened out.
*stupid
Nate, still at work, texted me a question and got curious when my response was full of misspelled words. I'm proud/sad to say it wasn't me responding, but my thief (Ashley). We kept my phone active for a couple days so she would have time to use it so we could track her...
We filed the report, etc., but didn't really have much to go on...until: a week or so later, I had ordered a new phone (with the same phone number) and was all set up. Thief's idiot friend sent me a message. Christmas! I wrote this person back and eventually found out that Hunter (my texter) is the brother of my thief and that they are from Idaho. After telling him a bit about me (Amy, age 22 from SLC) he divulged the first and last names of the two people involved in the theft of my items. After I got what I needed from him, Amy had to move on.
Thrilled with my craftiness, I called in my information to the detective on the case. He called me back a few times, but let me know the main thief had gotten away and thrown away everything of mine she'd taken. At that point, I filled out and sent in a restitution sheet and decided to be satisfied only with my sneaky way of finding the dirty girls who sifted through my things....until....

Restitution checks came in the mail today!!
I got a call earlier this week asking for my current address...3 addresses later, the checks are mine.
Thanks to Ashley and Hunter for a new flat iron. :)
